If your stay is not all inclusive, then expect to pay a huge price or suffer low quality or even both. The local outlets of course know if you are a “captive” customer and their prices will be adjusted “up” accordingly.
Back in 2001 I enjoyed a Latin dance holiday to Cuba. The point is that I spent a portion of my time in an all inclusive resort outside Havana. It is a fact of life that we or a traveling companion will need medical attention at one time or other in our travels.
My best friend and business partner traveled to a newly built Greek resort. The hotel knew this but my friend and other hotel guests didn’t until the accident.

Not all travel destinations are packed full of tourists. I have had an interest in these “secret” places since I first discovered two little lakes high in the hills and cliffs north of Ishpeming, Michigan. Other travel destinations are not so isolated, but they are still generally overlooked by most tourists. Yelapa, alas, has been discovered and overrun with tourists now. Here are some examples of a few of these travel destinations that are still undiscovered.
Storm Lake
Anaconda, Montana is a fun destination by itself. A Jack Nicholas-designed golf course (The Old Works Golf Course) is just at the edge of this small town.
If you really want to escape, though, drive 14 miles west on Highway 1. When you see the sign that says “Storm Lake,” turn there. Hike the trail along the right side and on the other side you’ll find the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness Area. Less than hour up the trail you’ll reach Storm Lake Pass, at the tree line. You’ll rarely have any company other than bears, birds and mountain goats.
Alamogordo, New Mexico
This is not at the top of most tourists lists, which is good for those of us that like our travel destinations to be uncrowded. It is a great little town, however, and a great base from which to explore the surrounding area. It is also a nice place to escape the winter, since it rarely snows or gets too cold here.
You can check out the little zoo right in town for a relaxing afternoon. If you time it right, you can bask in the sun one day in Alamogordo and be skiing the next day at the Cloudcroft Ski Area.
For an unusual destination, you can visit the Trinity Test Site, where the first nuclear bomb was exploded. To the west of town is the White Sands National Monument, with its truly amazing dunes of white sand.

Here in our hometown of Canon City, Colorado there is an area (Red Canyon Park) just ten miles out of town that has fantastic red rock formations like those in the more famous Garden of the Gods park in Colorado Springs. Climate

An unusual occurrence to the Southeast of Murcia is a large saltwater lagoon stretching the length of La Manga Strip for approximately 26 kilometres and 7 kilometres wide and is known as ‘The Mar Menor’ (The Little Sea).
La Manga Strip is the peninsular of land quite like a barrier island defending the Mar Menor from the Mediterranean Sea running along for 18 kilometres. The ‘Strip’ emerged in the 17th century because of thousands of years of sand being washed by the currents of the sea on an underwater volcanic range.
Historically La Manga has always been associated to fishermen even now working in the region in particular at Cabo de Palos an interesting fishing village situated at the top of ‘The Strip’ and is highly recommended for its magnificent selection of fish restaurants – truly gastronomic happiness!
Delightful Beaches
The exquisite beaches of the Mar Menor are only 100 metres from the entrance of our apartment building. The view is wonderful! The evening sunset is beyond belief – in particular from the restaurant on the beach.
The Mediterranean beaches are simply 500 metres from our apartment. Absolutely spoilt for choice if you like sunbathing!!
There are what’s more numerous other beaches up and down ‘The Strip’ one in particular about 300 metres away is popular for enjoying the benefits of a local ‘Mud Bath’ collected fresh from the Mar Menor and smear all over the body – left to dry and then washed off – it’s properties have a lot of healing powers mostly for skin complaints and arthritis.
Times gone by
The vicinity is steeped in history from La Manga, Murcia to Cartagena which has an old Port and various Roman sites to see.
A tourist office is offered at the top of ‘The Strip’ where you can come across more information for places of interest and how to reach them.
The close by city of Cartagena has a wealthy and monumental history. As well having an great quantity of culture Cartagena is also naturally blessed for a coastline that is nothing short of breathtaking.
