What To Expect And Look Out For During Your Visit To The Louvre Museum In Paris, France

Annually more than 8.5 million visitors come to view the Louvre Museum in Paris, France to see the second-biggest collection of artwork in the world. To Paris, art was thought of as a point of pride, a show of grandeur and a very important part of their culture. Here, one will find paintings like Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa,” Vermeer’s “The Lacemaker,” Delacroix’s “Liberty Leading the People,” Velazquez’s “Infanta Maria Margareta” and Raphael’s “Baltasar de Castiglione.” Travelers staying in Louvre Paris hostels can walk across the way to view breathtaking sculptures like the “Winged Victory of Samothrace,” “Venus de Milo” and Michelangelo’s “Rebellious Slave.”

The Louvre Paris France district is acolossal collection of huge fortress-like buildings. As well as the palace of the French kings, La Place de la Concorde ( Concorde Square ) was the former site of the legendary guillotine and many beheadings during the French Revolution. Today, there are no murdering machines, but rather, an Obelisk given to France by Egypt from the ruins of Ramses II’s temple. Between the Louvre and Concorde Square is the Jardin des Tuileries ( the Tuileries Garden ), which is a phenomenal Italian style garden with fountains, caves, greenhouses and sculptures. Below the garden is Le Musee de L’Orangerie, with Renoirs, Monets, Picassos and Czannes. Also nearby, visitors can find the Vendome Square, which is the epicenter of fine jewellery on location Paris. Shoppers can also examine Rivoli Street, the Faubord Saint honor Street and haute couture houses in Victories Square. Le Palais Royal ( the Royal Palace ) is awonderful piece of design surrounded by gardens, columns and colonnades. The financial area is also located in this part of France, with La Bourse du Commerce ( the Commodity Exchange ) located here. The L’englise Saint Roch Church houses a number of Jesuit art pieces, as well as the bodies of Corneille and Diderot.

Naturally, many travellers want to stay in the Louvre Paris France district, given its proximity to a number of glorious attractions. The closest hotel is the straightforward, two-star Timhotel Le Louvre Paris hotel, which is just 253 meters from this amazing museum. The rooms are plain, but you will have access to free wi-fi in your room and satellite television. Prices begin at $133 / night. The Normandy Hotel is also right on the corner of the Louvre Museum. This three-star building looks quite impressive from the street and offers an equally classy, elegant interior. Beginning at $185 / night, this is one of the pleasanter three-star hotels in Paris. Located right next door is the four-star Hotel du Louvre Paris, which appears more like a palace than a hotel. Beginning at $277 / night, guests can enjoy marble baths, jacuzzi spas, plush bedding, a fitness center and nothing but top quality conveniences. For the wealthiest travelers, the Renaissance Paris Vendome ( $411+ / night ) and Park Hyatt Paris Vendome ( $750+ / night ) feature five-star accommodations in the area.

According to a friend of mine who runs a home business in the tourism industry guests staying at hotels in Paris frequently opt to take special tours at the Louvre Paris France. For children and families, tours can be taken based on the following themes. 90 minute guided tours for children and families explore the following topics: “Histories and Legends”, “Two by Two” ( youngsters participate in a museum workshop, while folks choose a theme for a tour), “The Medieval Louvre” ( tour of the remains of the medieval fortress ), or “Discovery Trail” ( public galleries and concealed secrets ). People can take hour-and-a-half steered tours of the complete museum or 90-minute journeys thru the masterpieces, the architecture and the history behind the Louvre. There are also special tours for groups, kids and disabled visitors to inspire the appreciation of art by all.

Buying Chairs For A Hotel Lots Of Tips

As any hotel owner knows, considerable amounts of money have to be invested in hotel furniture. One important aspect of hotel furniture are the chairs that people sit on, and these have to be considered prior to purchase to ensure they complement the existing hotel décor. Any 3 – 5* hotels will need to create the right atmosphere with their hotel furniture, and anything cheap and in bad condition will do little to impress those that have come to stay.

When people have come from afar to stay at your hotel, you want to make sure cheap hotel chairs aren’t their lasting impression. Indeed, they may be the cost-effective option but visitors will be carefully noting the aesthetics of each piece of hotel furniture and if it doesn’t meet their expectations, they will probably remark upon it. Of course, some guests are more ‘picky’ than others, but you have to do your best to please everyone. Aesthetics aren’t as important as comfort when it comes to hotel chairs, so bear in mind this is what most guests look for.

Also remember that when guests enter the hotel, they decide whether or not they like the place in a matter of minutes. Don’t give people the chance to be unhappy with your hotel as soon as they step inside – just make sure the furniture gives a good impression. Things have to make the grade in terms of cleanliness and the overall condition of the hotel furniture. Equally, the hotel bedroom furniture should be carefully considered and any old, tatty furniture should be removed early on. If the tatty old bedroom furniture is left there, you will often find that people will remark upon it either during their stay or at checkout. The hotel furniture all around the building should be expertly chosen and you should put yourself in the guests’ shoes to check that the furniture looks good. The comfort level of the hotel chairs is also important.

Of course, you want your guests to return, so the right hotel chairs as part of your furniture is crucial.

Diyandi Festival Advances Iligan City, Philippines As Tourism Focal Point

Showcasing the many great attractions that Iligan City has to offer comes in September as the city celebrates its month-long fiesta activity.

The San Miguel Fiesta, in honor of the city’s patron, Saint Michael the Archangel, every 29th September is undoubtedly the most colorful yearly event in Iligan city and in Philippines.

The celebration is highlighted by three traditional events.

“On September 19, the Pagpakanaug or the lowering of the Patron Saint from its pedestal on the side of the main altar to another pedestal for its yearly change of costumes is a sight to behold and a tradition unparalled,” said Erlito C. Dalangin, chairman, Diyandi Festival sa Iligan 2009.

“Although conducted inside the Cathedral, the Pagpakanaug is spearheaded by devotees and participated in by local government officials whereby the city mayor receives the Patron Saint’s helmet; the congressman receives the spear; and the chief of police the San Miguel’s shield,” explained Dalangin.

All this occurs with a ceremony and a specific count amidst thunderous chants of Viva Senor San Miguel, participated in by thousands of devotees paying tribute to the defender of their faith, added Dalangin.

Then there will be a staging of the generations-old sarzuela, the San Miguel stage play more popularly known as “Comedia.”

This is a crude and morality play in Cebuano and its theme is the triumph of San Miguel over Lucifer (good over evil).

This will be performed on the 28th of September and 4th of October at Rizal Park, this city.

The procession and street celebration on September 29, the feast day, is attended by multitudes of devotees in all assortments of costumes and masks. One of the more entertaining events in Philippine travel.

Higaonons, angels, Diyandis, devil and angels dance, prance, and shout in mock battle celebrating the confrontation of Senor San Miguel and Luzbel (Lucifer).

During the procession, the devotees shout fiercely and forcefully.

Other cultural groups of Iligan, the Maranaos and Higaonons, participate in the feast with the Christian community.

This is evident in the Diyandi, a dance ritual performed by an all-female group showing the dating between a Maranao male and Higaonon female and culminates in an offering, symbolic of their union and harvest to St. Michael.

The beautiful imagery that the ritual conjures up, which relevantly describes the peaceful co-existence of the Muslims, Higaonons and Christians of Iligan, gave birth to, the Diyandi Festival sa Iligan.

The Hudyaka Cultural and Dance Sports contest will be staged at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) on September 22, with the Department of Education (DepEd) as the proponent.

In the morning of September 27 will be the Kasadya Street Dancing.

And there will be parade of beauties in the evening, with 12 lovely ladies striving for the crown of Miss Iligan 2009, to be held at MSU-IIT gymnasium.

Likewise, 14 candidates (seven boys and seven girls) aged 5 to 12 years old will compete in the Search for the Little Ms / Little Mr Iligan 2009 which will be held early afternoon on the same day, at Rizal Park.

This is sponsored by the Soroptimist International of Iligan City.

Diyandi Festival chairman Dalangin said they also invited sports enthusiasts in football, golf, frisbees, and swimming to join the challenge, with the joint airsoft, rescue, Red Cross and fire-fighting competition.

“This year’s fiesta celebration bears the theme, “Tuyhakaw, Iligan..Cge, Go!,” Dalangin said.

Nevada Tourism

There are hundreds of great things to do in Nevada. Mabel Holmes, Arlene Myers, Glenda Rice and Valerie Freeman got together and came up with a list of the best ones out there. From the recreational opportunities in Eureka County, Nevada: named for the Greek expression Eureka, meaning I have found it!, in reference to deposits of silver found in the vicinity to the homey inns in Elko County, Nevada: named for the county seat of Elko, Nevada, named in turn for the herds of elk in the area here is the best of the best.

Natural Wonders:

The Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park is a shady 3-acre park. The zoo exhibits over 150 species of plants and animals. This is a great spot for your family.

Shark Reef This aquarium not only has sharks, but alligators and other creatures living in more than 1,000,000 gallons of salt water and other types of display at the Mandalay Bay Resort. You will see blue sharks, eels and a jellyfish display with black lights.

Thriller In The Desert

The Gondola Rides at the Venetian navigate the canals that run through the Grand Canal. Shops are located at the Venetian Hotel Casino. Reservations are required if you want a singing gondolier to take you on your journey. Sounds romantic!

The Bellagio Fountains off a visual water symphony choreographed to music. It provides an unforgettable memory in front of the Bellagio Hotel Casino. The water jets span more than 1,000 feet and can shoot up to 240 feet in the air while seeming to dance to choreographed lights and romantic classical music.

Circus Circus Adventuredome Theme Park Grand Slam Canyon at Circus Circus is a dome-encompassed theme park. You will ride log rides, the roller coaster and bumper cars and play laser tag in a air-conditioned or heated environment.

International Exhibit In Hong Kong To Advertise Clark Philippines Airport

In a bid to promote the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA), the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) embarked on its first international roadshow in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).

Dubbed as “Via DMIA: Rediscover Clark and Subic, Philippines,” the roadshow was at the Langham Place Hotel in Mongkok, Kowloon.

Victor Jose I. Luciano, CIAC President and CEO led the CIAC roadshow team for the marketing and promotional event.

Luciano and CIAC Chairman of the Board Architect Nestor Mangio made presentations on the DMIA while airline representatives demonstrated their airlines’ operations at the Clark airport to at least 50 travel agents and travel media from Hong Kong, Macau and South China.

Presentations were also given by tourism stakeholders in the Clark Freeport that include Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Tourism Manager Noemi Garcia, Raul Marcelo of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and Philip Goulding of the Clark Freeport Tourism Association (CFTA).

CIAC Marketing Consultant and former tourism secretary Mina Gabor made a presentation on business possibilities in tourism in Clark.

Luciano said Hong Kong represents a rich source of potential tourists who may wish to travel to the Philippines via DMIA particularly to visit leisure and business destinations at the Clark and Subic Freeport zones.

“We are launching this major marketing campaign, the first of several that we will be conducting overseas, to sustain the growth of passenger traffic at DMIA. Through this international event, we aim to propagate awareness of the viability of DMIA as an alternative international gateway in Philippines tourism,” Luciano said.

The CIAC chief said Hong Kong SAR represents a huge source of likely international travelers, including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and Hong Kong-Chinese tourists, who may wish to utilize the DMIA as their point of entry or departure.

Located in the Clark Civil Aviation Complex within the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga, the 2,367-hectare DMIA is owned and operated by CIAC.

It has been stated by no less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as The Philippines premier international gateway.

The Commission on Filipinos Overseas, in a stock estimate of Overseas Filipinos, said there are 130,537 overseas Filipinos in Hong Kong as of December 2007.

National Statistics Office (NSO) survey on overseas Filipinos in 2008, on the other hand, showed that a significant portion of the OFWs in Hong Kong are within the surrounding area of the DMIA, 14.5 percent of which are from Central Luzon where the DMIA is located and 14 percent are from the National Capital Region (NCR) that can be reached in just about an hour from the Clark airport.

“This first-ever CIAC international roadshow is an opportunity for us to inform the people that there is an airport right at their doorsteps that can bring them to diverse Southeast Asian countries for business or employment and, in the case of our OFWs, most of which come from the Northern Philippines, the frequent and low-cost flights at DMIA mean they can come home more frequently and economically,” he said.

The Hong Kong Roadshow began with the “Para sa Iyo, Ang Airport na Ito” presentation by the CIAC team at the Bayanihan Kennedy Town Center in Kennedy Town, where the Clark airport roadshow team met with some 250 officers and members of OFW organizations in Hong Kong.

DMIA is currently host to international and domestic flights provided by foreign and local carriers that include Air Asia of Malaysia, Tiger Airways of Singapore, Asiana Airlines of South Korea and local carriers Cebu Pacific Air, the Philippines’ second flag-carrier, and South East Asian Airlines (SEAir).

The Spirit of Manila Airlines is also expected to start operations at DMIA soon.

The expected increase in flights will add to the popularity of the airport and will boost its feasibility as the country’s premier airport which is in line with President Arroyo’s declaration of the DMIA as the country’s next premier international airport and best logistics and services hub in the Asia Pacific Region.

Philippines Department Of Tourism Partners With MTV Networks For International Operation

With an eye on the growing market of youth adventure travelers, the Philippines Department of Tourism (PDOT) partners with MTV Networks for a “hip, contemporary” global campaign — MTV Revelations, to promote Philippines as a destination for young adults and music lovers.

The global campaign is being created for twelve markets: Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, U.K. and U.S.A., enabling millions of young adults worldwide to discover the “Awesome Philippines” through the eyes of MTV. The highly visual MTV Revelation will underscore a series of TV spots featuring MTV VJs from different countries talking about their personal experiences in the Philippines in a fun and fresh way. The campaign will change the way youths view the Philippines.

The partnership was reported during a Meet and Greet reception between Bill Roedy, Chairman and CEO of MTV Networks International and Philippines Tourism Secretary Joseph ‘Ace’ Durano at the Philippines Tourism stand at the annual international travel trade show, World Travel Market.

“MTV is the brand most synonymous with youth — youth culture, music, lifestyle and travel — globally. With our expertise in creating compelling content and our natural association with a young audience, we are best placed to enhance Philippines’ image as the number 1 destination amongst youth,” said Mr. Roedy. “We’re delighted that with our international reach we can work with the DOT to promote The Philippines to such a targeted youth audience across so many countries.”

“MTV knows its demographics best. Its VJs and onscreen personalities, for instance, have the credibility to reach out to the same youth market we are targeting. The partnership is a strategic fit and ensures continuity of demand as 70% of the Philippines’ tourist mix comes from the youth travelers” said Tourism Secretary Joseph ‘Ace’ Durano.

“With research identifying the 18-34 demographic as enjoying a higher disposable income as well as being the most passionate travelers of today, the entire global tourism industry has been reassessing the way in which it communicates to this very lucrative segment,” commented Kevin Razvi, EVP and Managing Director of VBSI. “We are happy that PDOT sees the value in us as we are the only media brand delivering all encompassing experience to youth across multi platforms.”

Amit Jain, EVP and Managing Director of MTV Networks India, China and South East Asia added, “MTV Networks has a strong brand & excellent reach in Philippine travel lead markets. With customized content delivered by MTV’s iconic VJ’s, we have another winner here — one that will deliver credible results for PDOT and create engaging & relevant content across twelve different markets.”

The MTV Revelations campaign includes a series of TV vignettes featuring MTV VJs’ personal stories and experiences in the Philippines as well as a variety of web activities synergized with local pertinence to reflect the different style, culture and tone of each market. This strategy combines MTV’s successful localization efforts to be more bespoke on air and online.

Apart from the MTV Revelations on air component the online elements enhancing the campaign will include MTV’s Music Mixer and MTV Video Widgets on www.awesomephilippines.com, playing a prominent role in personalizing the Philippines experience and a direct link to PDOT websites. In addition, the mini-site will host a Best Kept Secret contest, asking viewers to submit their best kept personal experience with the Philippines. Lucky winners will stand a chance to win a trip to the Philippines.
