Setting up a sporting break to Spain wouldn’t be completed without bearing in mind La Manga. There’s masses to see and do if you are searching to rent out a La Manga apartment, then what could you be in store for?
Climate
The weather at La Manga is famed world over with 320 days each year of sunshine, temperate breezes and clean air. An unusual occurrence to the Southeast of Murcia is a large saltwater lagoon stretching the length of La Manga Strip for approximately 26 kilometres and 7 kilometres wide and is known as ‘The Mar Menor’ (The Little Sea).
La Manga Strip is the peninsular of land quite like a barrier island defending the Mar Menor from the Mediterranean Sea running along for 18 kilometres. The ‘Strip’ emerged in the 17th century because of thousands of years of sand being washed by the currents of the sea on an underwater volcanic range.
Historically La Manga has always been associated to fishermen even now working in the region in particular at Cabo de Palos an interesting fishing village situated at the top of ‘The Strip’ and is highly recommended for its magnificent selection of fish restaurants – truly gastronomic happiness!
Delightful Beaches
The exquisite beaches of the Mar Menor are only 100 metres from the entrance of our apartment building. The view is wonderful! The evening sunset is beyond belief – in particular from the restaurant on the beach.
The Mediterranean beaches are simply 500 metres from our apartment. Absolutely spoilt for choice if you like sunbathing!!
There are what’s more numerous other beaches up and down ‘The Strip’ one in particular about 300 metres away is popular for enjoying the benefits of a local ‘Mud Bath’ collected fresh from the Mar Menor and smear all over the body – left to dry and then washed off – it’s properties have a lot of healing powers mostly for skin complaints and arthritis.
Times gone by
The vicinity is steeped in history from La Manga, Murcia to Cartagena which has an old Port and various Roman sites to see.
A tourist office is offered at the top of ‘The Strip’ where you can come across more information for places of interest and how to reach them.
The close by city of Cartagena has a wealthy and monumental history. As well having an great quantity of culture Cartagena is also naturally blessed for a coastline that is nothing short of breathtaking.
